2018 McLean County Ag Fair 4-H Exhibits

4-H is a dynamic, non-formal, educational youth program of the Cooperative Extension Service, which combines the cooperative efforts of youth, volunteer leaders, the University of Kentucky, Kentucky State University and local and federal governments. Kentucky 4-H Youth Development Education is a recognized community leader in developing youth to become productive citizens and serves as a catalyst for positive change to meet the needs of a diverse and changing society. Educational programs of the Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service serve all people regardless of race, color, age, sex, religion, disability, or national origin. 1.  Only currently enrolled 4-H’ers are eligible to exhibit in this department.  If you are a student in the McLean County Schools, grades 4-8, you are automatically a 4-H school club member.  You could also be a project club member, independent member or Teen Club member outside of school time.  The age limit is 9 years to 19 years of age as of January 1, current year.
2. All exhibits must be the work of the 4-H member submitting the entry. 
3. All entries must have been made during the current project year – August 2017 through July 2018.
4.  Ribbons and prize money will be awarded on the Danish system.  Therefore, each exhibit will receive a ribbon and prize money unless otherwise noted.  Champion ribbons will be awarded in each class and that entry will then be eligible for the State Fair unless otherwise noted. 
5. Total money allocated will be divided among the blue, red, and white ribbons. Total maximum amount to be awarded is blues ($5), reds ($3) and whites ($2). This is not a minimum but a maximum.  Amount of premiums is determined by the number of entries. All premium checks will be mailed to exhibitors following the close of Ag Fair. 
7. Field and Garden Crops will be judged on their stage of maturity at time of judging.
8. Entries must have been produced in McLean County.
9. Exhibitor must be a resident of McLean County.
10. REGISTRATION: Exhibits will be accepted on Wednesday, July 11th from 8:00pm-2:00pm in the 4-H Activities Building at Myer Creek Park. Each exhibitor must complete an entry sheet listing all entries being exhibited.  These will be available at the McLean County Cooperative Extension Service Office in Calhoun after July 1. Failure to complete the form could result in NO PREMIUMS being paid to exhibitor. 
11. RELEASE OF EXHIBITS: Items will be released between the hours of 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 14th.  All exhibits not picked up at this time will forfeit premium money.  McLean County 4-H will not be responsible for items left in 4-H exhibit area after 8:15 pm.  If you are unavailable to pick up your items during this time, you need to make arrangements with the extension office at 270-273-3690.
